"Invisible" Limited Edition Print
This is a limited edition print by Launa done in the Poetry Art style that she is known for. Each nuance and shadow is readable poetry that she has penned for this piece. This print, Invisible, speaks of the forgotten, broken and thrown away children in our society. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this art goes to the therapeutic art programs Launa does with children around the world in homes for children rescued from human trafficking, in orphanages and war zones, in juvenile detention or refugee camps. The art is signed and numbered and measures 11”x14”.
The poetry is as follows:
INVISIBLE
see me•I am unseen•speak out for me•I have no voice
shivering•forgotten•just an empty shell
to the world•an unsightly youth with stolen innocence
quavering from uncertainty•shrouded in fear and disbelief
my disjointed sentences whisper something like a prayer
I am famished for a morsel of sustaining hope
that is authentic•genuine•true
and won’t slip through my fingertips
I may be just a noxious weed to you
and all the people rushing by with urgent plans
unaware of the reality of my existence
because nobody takes a moment to look my way
who will gaze into these sleepless eyes?
that have witnessed things no child should view
and recognize that I am human also
I am more than someone who has been broken
and discarded until the next time I can be used
I wish I could shout loudly, with all my might
so that I can be found•seen•heard and valued
who am I but a phantom on this earth?
hiding in plain sight•alone•clothed in shadows
with cascades of tears that dried up long ago
and numb emotions overgrown like thistles
because of this life I did not choose and do not desire
I plead only for rescue•resuscitation
for an adult who will not shame me anymore
who can show me tenderness in a place of peace
But first someone must recognize that I am here
and will have a shred of empathy to take the risk
someone who will be more than just an angel
and will allow mercy•love and grace to run amok
I may be nobody to you, but as I await salvation
I know that I am worthy•I matter•I am enough
and I am not meant to remain invisible•see me
reach out to me•so there will be soul
in your so called honor•actions to your faith
and when you seek the face of God
in all of your fine religious rituals and rites
you only need to see me in your heart’s eye
to realize that I am the “least of these”
that our glorious and kind Master told you about
